Processing Methods
In-Person Payments
In-person payments are the most common way of accepting payments, where customers swipe their physical credit cards at a checkout counter using a POS system. Sky offers multiple hardware options, including POS terminals, tablets, and personal computers, to suit your business needs.
Online Payments
Sky Systemz provides a comprehensive payment solution, synchronizing online transactions with your POS system, products, and inventory. Our integrated online store offers seamless online payments, whether you need a custom-built website or integration with an existing one. Remote Payments
Sky's Operationz Suite offers a range of bolt-on technologies that enable remote payment capture. You can send invoices, set up recurring payments or subscriptions, or send payment requests to customers via email or text. These methods make it easy to receive payments from a link, providing convenient and secure payment options.
Manual Payments
Manual payments, such as paying over the phone, can easily be processed with Sky's POS System, Web POS, or Keyboard POS. Simply input the customer's card number, and the payment will be processed. This functionality can also be used for card-on-file and recurring payments.
Payment Methods
Cash
Sky's Cloud POS system is fully compatible with cash transactions, offering an optional cash drawer for your convenience. Simply enter cash transactions into the Sky Dashboard to track daily revenue within the system. Plus, when customers pay in cash, there are no processing fees, making it an attractive payment option for businesses.
Card-Present
When processing payments in-person using the Sky Systemz mobile app, Terminal app, or Web point of sale, transactions are considered card-present and eligible for a lower processing rate. This applies to payments made by swipe (magstripe cards), dip (EMV chip cards), and mobile payment options such as Apple or Google Pay.
Card-Not-Present
When processing payments online, remotely, or manually, a slightly higher processing rates per transaction applies. This applies to payments made by invoice, over-the-phone, manually entered on the Sky app, in the Sky online store, or for subscriptions and card-on-file payments.
Authorize & Capture
Understanding the process of authorizing and capturing payments can be challenging. When completing a transaction, two tasks are required: authorization and capture. Authorization confirms that a customer has sufficient funds to cover the charge amount, and often appears as a pending transaction in online banking. Capture is the manual process that removes the pending status and withdraws the money from the customer's account. With Authorize & Capture, both tasks happen simultaneously, avoiding the need for manual capture of a pending transaction.
Tips
Tips are a common way for workers in the restaurant or professional services industries to earn additional income. After a transaction is authorized, customers can add a tip amount and sign the receipt, which suspends the transaction in the system. The POS system then re-authorizes and captures the amount, including the added tip. In the Sky Dashboard, tips are stored and managed, making it easy for management to calculate how much to pay out at the end of each shift.
